In 2017, AARP launched the first AARP Community Challenge and funded 88 efforts across all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Those projects improved housing, public spaces, transportation, and more. This initiative is an important part of AARP’s work on livable communities, in which we support the efforts of neighborhoods, towns, cities and counties nationwide to become great places for residents of all ages.
